Pok�mon Ruby's updated graphics with weather effects, amazing sound, more than 200 Pok�mon with over 100 new species--as well as its faithful adherence to the existing series of Pok�mon games--makes for a welcome evolution in the series.

First, the game has a lot in common with Pok�mon games Silver, Gold, and Crystal. For example, players can choose to be a boy or a girl trainer, an internal clock sets events at certain times, and you're the game's handy-dandy Pok�dex helps players keep track of the many stats. You're main goal is still to beat all the Gym Trainers and become the Pok�mon Master. If you've played the old games, you will be right at home. But not all is the same.

The most obvious change is in the battles themselves. Now that two Pok�mon can fight on your side at the same time, you can tag-team them against an enemy by taking advantage of the strengths of your Pok�mons while covering their weaknesses. For example, you can now have a water Pok�mon watch your fire Pok�mon's back. You can also attack more than one Pok�mon at a time.

A whole new element to the game focuses on how berries are used in battle. And if you collect enough berries, you can take them to a Berry Blender and make a Pok�Block, which is a little super-charged candy that raises your Pok�mon's "Condition" attributes. You can then groom your Pok�mon for regional contests and compete for ribbons like "Best of Show," which will unlock additional contests. There's even strategy in how to best use your berries: pick too many and the berry tree will disappear; plant berries, though, and a tree will grow. You can also build a Secret Base in special areas of the game, which you can decorate just like you can your room.

And let us not forget that Pok�mon Ruby has a kickin' multiplayer system, too. You can trade Pok�mon, and link up to four players for incredible battles. The only downside is that you can't link up with the old Game Boy Color games. --Bryan Karsh

Any pokemon lover will love this game. This is my son's fav and he has emerald, saffire and red rescue. Entertains him and keeps him challenged!

I don't think anyone can deny that this is probably the best Pokemon game released so far. The fact that so many people have reviewed it is proof of its well-deserved popularity.

I like the fact that you can be a boy or girl trainer, and keeping track of stats is very important and helps the game look and feel better than the other Pokemon games.

I also love the fact that you can be friends with another Pokemon so you can have two people on your side during battle. This really helps the gameplay stand far and above other Pokemon games.

Pokemon must have.
When I was about seven or maybe six years old, I was really into pokemon, all these years later and Pokemon Ruby has once again got me addicted to the 'Gotta Catch 'em all' slogan.

This game starts out with you (Boy/or Girl) going to Littleroot in a moving Van. All new pokemon, all new gym leaders, and all new plotline. Though it does share a similarity to the previous games, its still fun like you wouldn't believe.

PROS:

~30+ hours of gameplay and 50+ hours if you do intend to 'Catch'em all'
~All new pokemon
~Great graphics.
~New breeding, new two on two battles...ect....

CONS:
~Does get tedious after you beat the game, unless you head for BATTLE TOWER...

Great!
This Dvd is pretty good, but the last episode endes on a hang! Also buy Primape Problems so you can see what happens next! The 2nd episode is sort of sad. The 1st episode is kind of scary! Over all other than the Mystery of Mt. Moon, this is one of my favorite!

All these questions are answered in this volume of three Pok�mon episodes from the popular TV series. In "The March of the Exeggutor Squad," Ash is hypnotized by a magician's Pok�mon. Soon angry Exeggutors are about to rampage on a city, and Brock and Misty have to work fast to save the day. Meowth falls for a cute girl who wants to help all Pok�mon. Unfortunately, her Pok�mon won't fight--and thus won't evolve--in "The Problem with Paras." Separately, Ash and Team Rocket try to build Paras's confidence. By the end, even one of Ash's favorite Pok�mon is evolving, albeit not a welcome event. In "The Song of Jigglypuff," the title Pok�mon also has trouble--it can't sing. I don't hate this series. I just saw too many shows sickeningly similar to Pokemon. I call this genre the mons. Too many mons. More originality please.

New and Improved Pokemon Video
My son loves Pokemon and he loves the Pokemon "Jigglypuff". When he saw this at the local video store he wanted wanted to rent it really bad. He loved it and watched it about four times. I ened up buying it online and hes still not bored with it!

Love that Jigglypuff!
Ah, sweet irony. A sad Jigglypuff only wants someone to appreciate his singing, but everyone keeps falling asleep. Even the doofy Psiduck can't stay awake! Ash has the answer, and soon Jigglypuff puts on a concert in "The Town that Never Sleeps." A great episode featuring my favorite Pokemon. The second half doesn't appear to be on the next DVD. The other episodes include a fake magician using Eggsecutor to hypnotise people, and Meowth falling in love. All good Pokemon fun.

The continuing adventures of Pok�mon pick up after the cliffhanger ending of Thunder Lizard as Ash, Misty, Brock, and Team Rocket are trapped aboard a sinking ocean liner. � la The Poseidon Adventure, they look to escape the upside-down ship with plenty of Pok�-action along the way. After making it (was there a doubt?), the three heroes search for their lost Pok�mon but find something else: Giant Pok�mon! Finally, we find the not-so-subtle differences between the Pok�mon Tentacool and Tentacruel. The final segment has more gunplay than most episodes, but the real challenge for parents will be the middle episode, which has five minutes of subtitled scenes in which the Pok�mon talk to each other. Seaside Pikachu is Cool!
The Island of the Giant Poke`Mon was wild! I like it when you can find out what the Poke`Mon are saying. And in Tentacool and Tentacruel, it's cool what happens to Meowth. I'm not saying anything now, but it's great!

Very cool.
As a young adult pursuing a career in the animation industry, I have to say I was very impressed. Pokemon is an all-ages show - I'm 19 and love watching it! Parents, if you watch this with your children, you're gauranteed a few laughs at both the slapstick parts, and plain sillyness that can arise! This particular episode isn't bad - from Team Rocket's antics over the purchased but worthless Magikarp, to Nastina's hysterical outbursts over the destruction of her hotl (how do the people doing the voices of this show keep from snickering throughout the recordings??!!) Definitly worth the 5 stars and suitable for children.

At last, Ash has earned his Marsh Badge! After overcoming a few Primape Problems, he also has a new Pok�mon under his belt. But he's still falling behind the other trainer hopefuls. So Ash, Misty, and Brock hit the road once again on their quest to defeat and capture more Pok�mon. This time, their journey leads to the Fighting Spirit Gym, where our gang pits their fighters against such nasties as Machop, Hitmonlee, and Hitmonchan. The kids even manage to enlighten an overworked trainer who's been neglecting his family. Next they travel to Gringy City, a dank, smelly town on the verge of disaster. Thanks to Pikachu's magnetism, the town is restored and Ash collects a rather stinky reward. Finally, lost somewhere in the mountains, the trio solves a mystery involving a band of molelike Diglett and the dam project the little diggers keep thwarting. This standard sampling of Pok�mon fare includes all the split-screen action, vibrant--sometimes psychedelic--animation, and nicely paced story lines of its other TV episode collections. A little slapstick humor provided by Team Rocket amuses the 5-year-old crowd, and we hope the "morals" of each 25-minute story (such as, "When you do a little digging you can always find something good") are not lost on the equally enraptured 10-year-olds. --Liane Thomas

When Team Rocket steals a Hitmonlee and enters the Fighting Pokemon Tournament, it will be up to Ash, Primeape, and Pikachu to fight for justice against their sticky tricks! Later, a Magemite thinks that love is the best medicine for Pikachu's electric flu. Will Pikachu agree? Finally, Pokemon trainers are recruited to capture the Digletts that keep wrecking a dam, including Ash's rival Gary! Will we see a showdown between trainers, or will the Digletts win in the end?

Duh, Its Pokemon of Course it gets 5 Stars
Ever since the first episode I saw it has been a awesome show. These episodes are great. The scene that comes to mind is seeing Team Rocket, Again, blasting off after loosing the tournament.

Not a great first choice, but a great DVD nonetheless...
Pokemon fans new to the DVD side of things should probably start off with Poke Friends or Thundershock, but for what its worth, this is still a great trio of episodes from Pokemon's 'golden' era.The first episode on the DVD features Pokemon like Primeape and Hitmonchan in a fighting tournament - very cool episode and virtually the only episode in the series to feature some of these Pokemon. The Grimer/Magnemite episode is just kinda there...nothing too major aside from Ash catching a Muk. The third episode is better than it sounds, featuring the Diglett and Dugtrio, as well as Team Rocket's Pokemon meeting their evolution.I have most of the released Pokemon DVDs...like I said, I wouldn't reccomend this as the first choice, but you won't be dissapointed in it either way.

unstable software
I actually have the "red" version of this software (which Amazon does not sell) but assume the basic platform is the same. The software crashed my daughter's machine repeatedly; I had to load it on my own computer for her to finish her project. Even then, it crashed my machine as well, several times, before I finally cut-and-pasted her work into PowerPoint to get it printed. I'm uninstalling both copies - she had some fun with it, but it's not worth the aggravation.

Very good, some flaws in program.
Pokemon Project Studio Blue Version is definitely a good program to use for making a Pokemon project. When I used the program, it was very good, but had one or two flaws. If you install both versions, you can use all of the Pokemon. The only flaw is that when I tried to transfer Pokemon from one version to another, no good. It wouldn't be able to transfer. What that simply means is that you can't use different Pokemon from another version on the other version. That can be a major hassle at times. But otherwise, a very good program to use and the results are excellent. An overall 4 stars.

Good program - no support
Firstly, these programs (Red and Blue)are easy to use, and allow many creative projects as part of the Print Shop family.However, having bought these last Christmas, I have found that Mattel (owner of The Learning Co.) no longers offers support for these programs. Additionally, while they advertise that you must get both programs to "get all the pokemon" you can not share the graphics between the programs. This means that you must launch them separately and keep separate projects in order to use all the pokemon -- very unfriendly.

Powerful software, great for kids and others too
Very powerful software. Had all the key Pokemon my son wanted. Very easy to manipulate objects, including sizing and rotation. Easy to create from scratch, modify existing templates, or move motifs from templates to blanks. Can create many lovely items w/o Pokemon if you so wish. Easy, easy, easy to use by kids. I had trouble loading it and received excellent tech support from the publisher! A great experience overall.

Wow! Nintendo has done it again! You can make sooo many things with this program! I own both of them, but this one is my fav. This is definately worth your money, and is the perfect gift for any Pok�mon fan!

The kids and their pet monsters have forsaken the city for the countryside in this trio of episodes from the animated TV series. First they stumble into a booby-trapped Ninja mansion in "The Ninja Pok�-Showdown." The head Ninja challenges Ash to a "two-on-two" Pok�mon battle, which introduces two forms of the insect monster Veronat. For a little dash of culture, evildoers Team Rocket appear in kabuki garb. Then it's on to the Pok�mon preserve in "The Flame Pok�mon-Athon!" in which cowgirl Lara (complete with Southernish accent) trains her protected Pok�mon for the big annual race. Finally, in "The Kangaskhan Kid," Ash, Misty, and Brock help reunite a little Tarzan twin who lives in the wild with a pack of kangaroo-like Pok�mon with his father, who accidentally dropped him from an airplane when he was three, and his mother, who, curiously, appears not to resent her husband's carelessness. This 75-minute tape will appeal to Pok�mon fans of all ages; however, parents concerned about the fighting may want to wait until their tots are preschool-age to introduce them to the phenom that is Pok�mon. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Two outta three ain't bad...
You know the drill, Pokemon is great, three Pokemon eps on a DVD/VHS, yadda yadda yadda. The first episode is "The Ninja-Poke Showdown", in which Ash sets out to win a Soul Badge from Gym Leader Koga, but he must first naviagate a mansion full of tricks and traps as well as deal with Koga's sister Aya (whom Brock immediately develops a crush for, of course). And naturally, Team Rocket has to butt in, with their most outrageous entrance yet.Then it's off to the Safari Zone in "The Pokemon Flame-athon". In this five star episode, the gang meets Lara Laramie, who is a member of the Laramie family who breed powerful Pokemon. She has her heart set on winning the annual Pokemon race the next day, with her faithful Ponyta. But disaster falls upon her, thanks to her rival Dario and Team Rocket, and she breaks her arm, unable race. Ash volunteers to help her out, but there's one slight problem... he's never ridden a horse before! Can Ash and Ponyta beat Dario? And what other tricks does Team Rocket have up their sleeve?Finally, comes one of the worst episodes of Pokemon ever made. "The Kangaskhan Kid" is a huge, unmanageable mess. In the Safari Zone, Ash and company come across a couple searching for their child they lost several years ago, who has lived among the Kangaskhan and become the Kangaskhan Kid. This episode was very, very bad. The dialouge made no sense, and the animation was stiff and mechanical, unlike the smooth animation of the previous two eps. Fortunately, this episode is at the end, so you can just shut off the DVD after "The Pokemon Flame-Athon"Despite the addition of this horrible episode, the other two are well worth the purchase with terrific animation and well-told stories.

Ash, Misty, and Brock left Saffron City in shame, defeated by the psychic power of lovely Sabrina's Pok�mon in Psychic Surprise. Luckily, the mysterious bearded man returns to help him rescue his buddies and empower his team of loyal Pok�mon. In the third episode, Ash utilizes constructive force--and Charmander--to capture the wild Primeape. With their imaginative plots, smartly detailed animation, and distinctive characters, Pok�mon videos always offer an entertaining feast for young eyes and ears. Stories rely on dialogue and action scenes geared toward 5-year-olds and up; any "violence" usually is limited to Pok�mon face-offs and doesn't involve guns. Pok�mon, the little high-tech toys, and the Nintendo game involving them, emerged as a pop-culture phenomenon in 1998: the TV show aired six times a week, a theatrical feature was released in 1999, and Pok�mon Web sites popped up all over the Internet. These episodes of the TV series center on Ash Ketchum, an adolescent boy who aspires to become a champion Pok�mon trainer. He sets out for his first tournament, accompanied by his sometimes friend, a girl named Misty, and his special pet Pok�mon, Pikachu. Along the way, he defeats another boy, Samurai, in a duel and makes a valuable new friend when he challenges Brock, the local champion, while learning lessons about friendship, perseverance, and honorable play. On Moon Mountain, he discovers a fallen meteor with magical powers over the excessively cute Clefaries. Jessie and James, the Team Rocket, attempt to steal the Moon Stone, but are defeated by Ash, Misty, and Brock in a slapstick battle. Adults may have trouble keeping track of the different Pok�mon without the help of a child, but the "Full-Length Pok�rap" at the end of the disc lists them, an obvious attempt to stimulate the urge to collect all 150 (plus one rare collector's Pok�mon coveted by fans). --Charles Solomon

Pokemon trainer Ash Ketchum continues his quest to become the world's greatest Pokemon master. He's already caught two of the amazing creatures with the help of Pikachu. Together with Misty, they'll travel across the land searching far and wide for all 150 Pokemon - he's "gotta catch 'em all" to be the very best.

Getting better
As we remember from the last DVD, Ash and Misty are venturing through Viridian Forest.Following the game, they should reach Pewter Town now, right.Nah, not yet. Looks like we have to slow down a bit, or the show'll be over in 30 episodes.So, they're still in Viridian Forest. Ash meets a pokemon trainer named Samurai (uh..), who want a fight after losing to Gary earlier. The fight turns out to be a bore-fest where Ash's and Samurai's Metapods harden a few dozen times. It ends with a bucnh of Beedrills kidnapping Metapod. Woo, finally rid of him. Now to get rid of Pikachu, and catch some good pokemon. Nah, Ash embarks on a rescue mission, but is attack by J&J who want Pikachu. They end up getting attacked by more Beedrills, while Metapod defend Ash. The experience evolves him into Butterfree, a pokemon even worse than Pikachu. Blah.Well, Ash and Misty continue their journey, and reach Pewter City, where Ash decides to enter the Pokemon League. To enter, he has to travel between cities and towns, challenging the local pokemon master in a battle and win. This'll give him a badge to brag about. Get 8 badges, and you can enter the league. Ash challenges the local master, Brock, but is easily beaten. An old man named Flint, who turns out to be Brocks father, helps Ash super-charge Pikachu making him win. Almost. Ash gets the chanse to cheat, but turns it down. Brock hands him the badge anyway, and joins him on the journey. On the way to the next town, Cerulean, Ash and co journey through Mount Moon, where they meet a scientist named Seymour, and stop Jessie and James from stealing the mysterious Moon Stone from the Clefairies, a very rare species of pokemon. The stone is supposed to evolve pokemon into otherwise unattainable forms, making it very useful for Team Rocket. Ash and co don't succeed, however, and J&J get away with the stone. The Clefairies stop them with a bit help from Brock's Onix, use the Moon Stone to evlve, and beat up the Rocket agents. Turns out the stone was a bit more powerful than they thought.So, what do we have here? 3 very good episodes, each deling with a different pokemon species. The first one cover the Weedle/Kakuna/Beedrill family, then we have Brock's pokemon, Geodude and Onix. And finally, Clefairy and Clefable.Can't really say much else, cept that these are among the best episodes at this point in the series, and I recommend this DVD to all fans.

For The Poke Fans
In this edition Ash sharpens up his battle skills against Samurai. Then he challenges a gym leader named Brock. After he gets the badge he a Brock become friends. Also, Misty is still following Ash around for the money he owes her for the bike he distroyed. Then Ash, Misty, and Brock head off to Mount Moon to discover it's many secrets.

POKEMON EPISODES 4, 5 AND 6
THE MYSTERY OF MOUNT MOON contains episodes 4, 5 and 6. Episode 4 is called Challenge of the Samurai. Ash and Misty are lost deep in the Viridian Forest. They meet a strange-looking warrior who calls himself the samurai.Ash challenges the Samuria. Both fighters' Metapod seem to be putting up a boring battle. So, the battle is cancelled. Then, Ash and Pikachu and Misty and the samurai are attacked by a swarm of Beedrill. They all run off. But Ash's Metapod won't get into its PokeBall. It is mad that Ash abandoned it to save himself from the Beedrill. Then, the Beedrill attack and Metapod evolves! Ash's Butterfree saves our friends and they say goodbye to the samurai and continue on. Episode 5, Showdown in Pewter City. Ash, Misty and Pikachu reach Pewter City. Ash battles the gym leader, Brock but Pikachu gets crushed by Brock's Onix. Ash is shocked and runs off with Pikachu in his arms, sobbing. Then, a weird man tells Ash that he can recharge Pikachu at an abandoned power plant nearby. So, Ash Pikachu and the man go to the Power plant and charge Pikachu by running the electric machines. Ash returns to the Pewter Gym. Brock uses Geodude. Ash uses Pikachu. (This proves that Ash is really stupid because he also has a Butterfree, which is awesome against rock, but he still chooses Pikachu). Geodude loses. Then Brock uses Onix. Pikachu's Thundershock attack starts a fire and sets off the Gym's sprinkler system, eroding Onix's body. Ash goes away because he didn't beat Brock. But Brock insists that Ash take his Boulderbadge. So, Ash takes it and Brock joins Ash and Misty on their journey. Episode 6, Clefairy and the Moon Stone. Our friends reach Mt. Moon and meet Semour, a Pokemon researcher. He gets attacked by a colony of Zubat, but Ash saves him. Then, they find out that Team Rocket wants to steal the Moon Stone from the Clefairy. Ash, Brock, Misty and Semour defeat Team Rocket and save the Clefairy's Moon Stone. That's about it.

In a medium that often sees cheap, poorly done releases to capitalize on the latest fad, Pok�mon Project Studio is the real deal: a great creativity toolkit for any child fan. The software is much like an adult's graphics application, with a look and feel like that of Photoshop. The difference is that Studio is drenched in color, with vibrant characters available to insert into every artistic project.

For anyone who's been circling planet Earth rather than living on it, Pok�mon is the rage with the elementary-school set. To say that it's a hot fad is a rabid understatement. Kids love the Japanese Anime characters, based on a Nintendo pocket game. The same sensibility permeates this licensed product, and it's sure to satisfy.

The software offers both preconstructed projects and the ability to start from scratch. The menu lists are dense with text, so for younger kids, parents will need to be there for the first few hours of play. (After that, kids can easily orient themselves to the corresponding colorful, icon-based buttons on the interface).

The main drawing board offers a wide variety of things to make: birthday cards, stationery, postcards, and calendars. (Teachers and parents may want to get this software for themselves--included are achievement awards and banners that can easily be personalized.) Also included with the software is Avery sticker paper--which can be refilled--and more substantive plastic paper that can be baked in the oven after it's been printed (a process similar to making Shrinky Dinks).

A superior graphics package, Pok�mon Project Studio has the added luck of featuring the hottest characters around. While kids will just love to play with their favorite animal friends, parents will appreciate the thought and planning needed to execute these artistic endeavors.
